Hello everyone and welcome to this new Flight review.
We are in February 2022, and at the time of the winter gloom, the desire is felt to go and find a little exoticism. I set my sights on Seville, the Andalusian capital. In July, for the opening of sales for the winter season 2021/2022, Transavia and Montpellier Airport announced the resumption of some routes abandoned because of Covid. Let's just say that there is no lack of choice: Lisbon, Marrakech, Algiers, Tunis, Djerba, Nantes, Rennes, Brest, the change from Air France to Transavia France to Orly, Bastia, and three reopenings of routes abandoned since 2020: Oran, Oujda and surprisingly, Seville! So we left for a city break in Andalusia.
On February 24th, we find ourselves under an unusual Montpellier greyness in front of the airport hall.
We get in, and I find this well-known hall with its huge advertising banners.
The check-in is completed, and we then proceed to security.
We then go upstairs to the duty-free area, and then to the boarding gates.
I then noticed that the flight was announced as delayed.
The only lounge at Montpellier Airport called "Salon by Promeo" is a 150 m² space composed of two relaxation areas, a catering area, and two spaces for individual or connected work.
Services include unlimited broadband Wi-Fi, TV, local and national press, hot and cold drinks, cold food, and disabled person access.
Here is a selection of the catering offers available:
While I was waiting in the lounge, the aircraft finally arrived.
Passengers are then invited to walk to the aircraft to board.
Here are some pictures of the aircraft:
The Air France mother takes off in the background.
The fuselage shot is done!
I then enter a monochromatic cabin, which looks comfortable and clean.
I then move to my seat: 9A.
The legroom is good for a low-cost airline.
The aircraft of the day features the 'Sky Interior'. Innovations include a redesigned cabin contour, LED lighting to dim the lights, and new luggage compartments that provide a more spacious and comfortable experience.
The pushback is done, and we then continue with the taxi to runway 30R.
We line up and take off.
With a beautiful view of the Vallair Industry offices.
The aircraft then performs some cloud surfing as it passes through the clouds before reaching cruising altitude.
Today's flight is not full. This will allow me to move around and take some pictures of the cabin.
On the right side of the aircraft, we can see the Cevennes, and with a keen look, the Millau viaduct!
Regarding the entertainment offer, Transavia offers an online portal where it is possible to find films, series, and other types of entertaining content.
On the BOB (Buy On Board) service, various food products are available for sale.
The flight continues, and we start to see the Pyrenees mountain range.
Shortly after crossing the Spanish border, a layer of cloud will replace the snowy peaks.
This layer will continue until we approach the Andalusian region and its arid landscapes.
We then start the descent and finally break through the clouds.
The Sevillian lands appear. We approach and land on runway 09.
We then taxi to the parking area and pass near an A400M of the Spanish army.
Our plane parks next to the competitor Volotea.
It is then time to disembark, once again without any problems.
In less than 10 minutes, I am in the arrival hall of the airport before leaving it immediately afterwards!
As usual, Montpellier Airport does not disappoint. Thanks to its warm atmosphere, faultless organization, and impeccable cleanliness, Montpellier Airport was recently voted "Best Airport in France"! And it is well deserved! As for the "Salon by Promeo" lounge, it is a quiet space, ideal for work and relaxation. Although the catering offer is limited, the entrance fee of 18 € is correct, especially at lunchtime.
Transavia offered an exceptional experience to its passengers. It could be described as a premium low-cost airline, without a doubt. The crew was excellent, always there to accompany or sympathize with the passengers. As mentioned above, the cabin is very pleasant. The only negative points to note are the excessive prices charged on the "Buy On Board" service with a simple sandwich with Emmental cheese at 6 € whereas the prices are equivalent in other low-cost airlines. The second negative point is the 1h30 delay.
I did not linger in this airport and will therefore develop my remarks on the return flight. However, from the point of view of fluidity, the service is quite correct. Nevertheless, this airport is not as welcoming as Montpellier can be. There are large halls with white walls lit only by artificial light. Sometimes you feel like you are in an underground car park.
