Hello everyone! I am meeting you this morning at Montpellier-Méditerranée Airport for a flight to Casablanca-Mohamed V in Morocco, allowing me to breathe for a few days and to get out of this anxiety-filled atmosphere in France due to the sanitary crisis.
Sunday 18th October, here I am at Montpellier, after a smooth car journey, I enter the check-in area at around 7:30 am. The check-in process goes smoothly (presentation of the Covid-test, passport, health form...). We get our tickets and we go now to the duty-free after passing through security…
What a surprise when you arrive in the new Montpellier duty-free! Clean and modern, it promotes regional products (Languedoc-Roussillon) with, in front, a large window that offers a magnificent view of the taxiway! There is also a relaxation area to promote a TV series filmed in Montpellier.
After passing the passport control, I head to the boarding gate. After about ten minutes of waiting (while spotting the few planes on the tarmac), I boarded first by jetway…
My seat is the 3F, so I have a good view of the wing and the engine. Boarding at first, I thought I was alone on the flight, but of course, the flight was full (the MPL-CMN route being one of the most important in Montpellier). The seats are quite spacious with a tray table and the Air Arabia A320 safety card.
During the taxi to the runway, soft music comes to soothe us, allowing the nervous passengers to relax. My window seat still allows me to enjoy a breathtaking view of the pond. We then take off towards Casablanca at 10:10 am.
The meal is not included in the ticket but it is possible to buy a snack (sandwich, crisps, beverages, coffee...) thanks to the Buy On Board service.
I continue to enjoy the beautiful view, especially on the Hispano-Moroccan border which offers a magnificent view of the Strait of Gibraltar, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Atlantic Ocean.
We then start the approach to the fields of the Moroccan hinterland.
After a two-hour flight, we are landing at 11:30 am! We are then taxiing to the gate, which is between two Boeing giants: a Royal Air Maroc 787 and a Turkish Airlines 777.
After disembarking, I head for the Moroccan customs, which are very strict regarding entering the territory. To my great surprise, there was hardly anyone compared to a normal situation (without COVID). My passport and my boarding pass were checked 3 times once on the ground (at customs, before the luggage claim, and when living the Terminal). It was very hot outside during this month of October!
I can only say good things about this flight. An extremely smooth and quiet flight, with no trouble and remarkable punctuality! However, it is a pity that Air Arabia's A320s are not equipped with USB ports and Wi-Fi. The cabin crew was very nice and allowed me to visit the cockpit (while deboarding). This explains the excellent rating given to the crew.
