Hello everyone, today we are here at Malta Airport for my return flight to Lyon. So, I will present to you all the stages of my flight aboard the second Airbus A320neo delivered to Air Malta two years ago.
Here I am, at Malta Airport. It is large, spacious, and very well organized. The only small complaint is the placement of signs imitating flight information panels at a height, which are actually there for advertising. This can be confusing.
Once the check-in for my luggage is completed, I head towards the self-service kiosks where I scan my boarding pass.
Now I have arrived at the lounge of Malta Airport. It is located directly after the Duty-Free area. It is poorly placed, meaning it is tucked away and almost invisible to passersby. It's quite unfortunate. However, it is open, unlike the lounges at Lyon Airport, which were closed (for unknown reasons).
The lounge is nice, but nothing extraordinary. It is very clean, and the staff is friendly and at your service. The choice of drinks and food is limited due to the current sanitary measures in Malta.
A real positive aspect of this lounge is the view! What can I say? You just have to settle down in one of the four sofas arranged along the windows and enjoy the view. If you want to add some noise to that, you have a magnificent outdoor terrace. It offers a beautiful view with very nice furnishings.
Now it's time for me to board. I board on the tarmac. We are on time. From the stairs, I was able to take some photos of this beautiful, shiny A320neo.
I am seating in 2A in Business class. I quickly move to 3A, which is unoccupied, to take some photos for you. The seat is relatively comfortable, although legroom is limited for stretching. There were only four of us in the Business cabin out of 12 available seats. As for the economy cabin, it was about 75% full.
The crew gives me a pouch with a mask and hand sanitizer inside.
The cleanliness of the seat is quite decent. The tray tables are clean, as well as the perfectly cleaned windows. I have a great view, especially of the magnificent CFM Leap 1A engine.
It's time to take off! Let's go fly back to Lyon! Magnificent view of Valletta!
And here's my only meal during this flight. The food is excellent. I have no complaints, just bravo! The meal was very fresh and of the day.
During this flight, the crew did not lower the screens located on the overhead panel of the aircraft. It's a shame because these small screens show us where we are, how much time is left, etc., providing interesting information. During the cruise, the weather is favorable to us despite some turbulence.
We are now starting our descent to Lyon with somewhat turbulent weather. Nonetheless, the view is still great with those magnificent engines.
And there we are, back again!
Unfortunately, the arrival goes badly, very badly. It turns out that our plane arrived 15 minutes early, but the Lyon Airport team was not ready to receive the aircraft. As a result, we waited approximately 25 minutes on board the plane until a bus came to pick us up on the tarmac. It's disappointing to see that it goes wrong every time. Such a pity :(
Furthermore, knowing that we disembarked through the rear door, Business passengers are the last to get off. So, I don't see the point of reserving Business tickets with priority to disembark last...
As usual, Lyon Airport is very disappointing in terms of staff friendliness (especially at Passport Control) and the quality of the facilities.
It was an excellent flight with Air Malta, unfortunately, marred by this disappointing arrival in every sense of the word... The flight was impeccable, and the staff kind, friendly, and helpful. However, as soon as we enter French territory, we notice that our airports have room for improvement by taking examples from others. It's very unfortunate to see this. I would recommend Air Malta Business class to 90%. It is of good quality. The only weakness is the seat configuration. They are not real Business Class seats, just European Business seats and that's regrettable.
