Hello, today we meet at Madrid Airport (Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas) after a nice 2-day weekend in a very Madrid-like atmosphere.
On Sunday, September 26th, I arrived at Terminal 4 (T4) of the airport around 1:30 PM after taking the metro (Line 10) and the Cercanias (C10). I was greeted by the iconic architecture of T4, which I always appreciate and find impressive.
The airport was bustling with people.
I headed towards the self-check-in kiosks for Iberia.
After printing my boarding pass, I proceeded to the security checkpoint.
The T4 offers numerous restaurants and shops, making the travel experience more enjoyable compared to MRS, where there is nothing to do. I decided to have a meal at McDonald's and later realized that my boarding gate was at the opposite end of T4 (while McDonald's was at the other end). For your information, T4 is approximately 1.5 km long!
Finally finding my boarding gate, I observed a lot of Iberia aircraft around me, mainly A320 (Iberia Express) and A321neo, as well as CRJ-1000 (Iberia Regional). I could also spot the T4S in the distance, where the A330 and A359 of Iberia were parked.
Boarding began around 3:30 PM, starting with the passengers seated at the back.
As expected, since the CRJ does not have overhead cabin storage, my luggage was placed in the forward cargo hold.
The cabin looked a bit dated, but the seats were comfortable, and there was sufficient legroom. I apologize for not taking a photo of the entire seat!
We started taxiing towards the runway, and I caught sight of the British Airways A380 parked nearby.
We took off at around 4:00 PM.
During the flight, they offered some snacks for purchase, but I mostly enjoyed the view from the window. However, there were quite a few turbulence spots.
After 1 hour and 10 minutes of flying, we began our approach to MRS and landed at 5:16 PM, completing a 1 hour and 20-minute flight.
After deboarding, I retrieved my luggage from the plane and headed outside the airport to catch my train at the Aéroport Marseille Provence-Vitrolles station.
Overall, it was a very good flight on Iberia Regional's CRJ-1000 between MAD and MRS. The T4 at MAD is stunning and enjoyable, offering a wide range of services to keep passengers entertained, unlike MRS.
Despite the cabin cleanliness needing some improvement, the flight was comfortable.
Note: It's surprising that no one checked my health pass or ID from my arrival at Madrid Airport until my exit at MRS.
