Hello everyone and welcome to this new Flight review !
This marks the first episode of my trip to Vietnam. This will comprise 4 long-haul flights with Qatar Airways, including a stopover in Doha, and two domestic flights with Vietnam Airlines.
I arrive at the airport about 3 hours before my flight, to take advantage of the lounge, which I'd never had the chance to visit before.
The security checks went quickly, as did customs!
The duty-free area is large, with plenty of places to eat and sit.
I'm immediately heading to the lounge “Sala VIP Canudas”.
It's very busy at this time of day, but seats are still available.
However, the big drawback of this lounge was the unpacking. There were literally piles of dishes on every table! I'd never seen anything like it.
Here's the food offer.
As well as the beverage offer.
The lounge is divided into two parts: the part to the right of the entrance is much quieter because it is away from the main dining area.
Finally, it's off to the gate area, where I can see this Emirates 777 being flown over by an Air Europa 737.
The day bird appears through the large windows, making the airport very bright.
Boarding is fast and meticulous, which is very much appreciated.
The fuselage shot, always a must despite the jetbridge, which doesn't make the task easy!
A warm welcome aboard. The cabin is spacious and bright, in the colors of Qatar. The first impression is rather good !
Each seat comes with a cushion, blanket, headphones and socks, and an amenity kit will be distributed later.
The screen is modern and large!
The window offers a superb view of the flaps.
The seat is comfortable and legroom is good.
Then the safety demonstration video begins. It highlights Qatar's heritage, as well as various destinations in the Qatar Airways network.
The taxi starts.
The mood lighting is on.
We line up on the runway, engines running at full throttle, yet very quiet. The aircraft is extremely comfortable.
Now it's time to talk about the entertainment on offer.
On the one hand, the screen features various menus such as the flight map, games, music, movies (with a wide variety of options), as well as tabs advertising Qatar for tourists.
On the other hand, there is also a Wi-Fi option on board. Several choices are available to suit individual needs, with one hour free for members of the Privilege Club (the Qatar Airways frequent flyer program).
Then it's time for an aperitif with drinks and crackers.
Cheers to Flightreviews.net's members !
Then came the meal. On the menu was wasabi beef, with a quinoa salad as a starter. It was pretty good.
The seat provides access to only one window with the classic 787 dimming feature.
After lunch, the sun sets, providing a beautiful spectacle!
Cabin brightness is reduced to allow passengers to rest.
Shortly before the finish, sandwiches are served as a snack.
Then the descent begins and the city of Doha appears in the half-light.
The landing is smooth, then passengers are invited to disembark.
We'll be joining the terminal with a 15-minute bus ride.
Once the bus ride is over, I find myself in this beautiful Doha airport, which we'll detail in a future review.
Barcelona Airport : About Barcelona Airport, I might mention the efficiency of their security procedures and the large variety of services offered. However, issues like language barriers of the staff or unclear signage could also be areas for improvement.
Qatar Airways : It was a great experience: the entertainment on offer, the comfort of the seat and the aircraft in general, and the food on board were the highlights of this trip. There's a rumor going around that Qatar Airways crews aren't friendly, but I found the crew very pleasant and available to passengers!
Doha Airport : The transfer was almost instantaneous, as we immediately found ourselves in the duty-free zone.
