Hello everyone and welcome to this new Flight review. In the previous review, I shared my experience aboard an Air France Airbus A320 flying from Paris to Prague in Economy Class. In this second review, I will present my experience aboard an Amelia International Airbus A320-200, a young Slovenian airline operating on behalf of Air France, from Prague to Paris-Charles de Gaulle, again in Economy Class.
I arrive at the departure level of Terminal 2 at the airport, having taken a bus from the "Zlicin" metro station. This is a quick and economical way to connect the city of Prague to its airport.
Here I am in the check-in hall of the terminal. It is spacious, bright, extremely clean, and pleasant.
I head to the Air France check-in counters. There iw no one there at this hour, and check-in is completed instantly.
Before passing through security, I decide to take a tour of the check-in hall. There are many dining and shopping options.
Including an outdoor terrace that offers a view of parked planes — a fantastic initiative for avgeeks!
There is an Airbus A320 of Czech Airlines boarding for Paris.
In the background, a Korean Air 787 is preparing for a later departure to Seoul.
Another A320 of Czech Airlines is being towed, likely for maintenance.
Back to the terminal, I proceed to security. There was very little wait, and I passed through quickly.
On the other side, there was a small but well-stocked duty-free shop.
Following that, I walked through a significant number of restaurants, cafes, and shops. The offerings are excellent, making it impossible to get bored!
It's almost like being in Germany!
Along the way, I observe some planes parked, including a KLM 737 and an Aegean A320neo.
On the other side, there is a Lufthansa A320neo and a Smartwings 737.
Unfortunately, I quickly realized that my flight, which departed an hour late from Paris, is now scheduled with a 45-minute delay.
I descend to the lower level to reach concourse C, from where my flight to Paris will depart.
A quick walk through the concourse revealed more shops and cafes.
I arrive at gate 17, the same as for my departure flight.
My plane finally landed in Prague and arrived at the gate. It is F-HBNA, a 14-year-old (at the time of my flight) Airbus A320-214 that had belonged to Air France, then Transavia France, then back to Air France, before joining Amelia's fleet in April 2023. It is one of the six Airbus aircraft in the Slovenian airline's fleet, seemingly assigned to the same routes daily and operating for Air France.
Passenger deboarding begins, likely to save time and try to make up for the delay, with rear passengers disembarking by bus — a curious method. Air France continues to surprise me!
Once deboarding is complete, pre-boarding begins with groups 1 and 2 (Business Class and Sky Priority) called first, followed by group 3. Passengers in the first three groups waited in the jetway while the plane was prepared.
Finally, groups 4 and 5 (including myself) were invited to board.
We are warmly welcomed onboard by a flight attendant and a steward.
I make my way to my seat, 10A. The cabin is similar to some Air France A320s, with very thin, non-reclining fabric seats.
There is a small tray table and a cup holder.
The seat pocket contains the Amelia-branded safety card and a sickness bag.
The legroom is average.
Each seat is equipped with USB-A ports, which are not very fast but appreciated.
A disinfectant towel is distributed.
Safety procedures begin quickly, and we start pushing back.
We taxi to the threshold of runway 06.
One of Transavia France's brand-new A320neo aircraft can be seen in the background.
At 20:55, nearly an hour late, we aligned and take off. Goodbye, Prague!
We quickly enter a cloud layer, emerging to a beautiful sunset.
Before the service begins, a quick look at the in-flight entertainment options, which are quite limited.
This Airbus A320 is not equipped with onboard Wi-Fi or on-demand entertainment.
However, Air France offers its Air France Play app (available on smartphones) allowing passengers to download several newspapers and magazines for free before the flight (8 magazines and 8 newspapers in my case).
The service begins, consisting of a snack and a beverage of choice.
The snack options are a chicken or cheese sandwich. I choose the chicken sandwich, which is edible but very average, almost plasticky.
Beverage choices include tea, coffee, coke, orange juice, apple juice, tomato juice, Heineken beer, red wine, and water. I choose apple juice and a glass of water.
My partner tried the red wine, which turned out to be of poor quality.
There was not much to do on this flight except admire the darkening sky.
After some time, we begin our descent.
We intercept the ILS for runway 08R.
At 22:15, with a 30-minute delay after a 1 hour and 20-minute flight, we land at Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
After several departing planes, we cross runway 08L and taxi to our gate at Terminal 2F.
We park next to an Airbus A220.
Surprisingly, the jetway did not arrive. After about ten minutes, the captain informed us that it was stuck, and we had to wait for a technician.
We eventually left the plane after over 20 minutes of waiting — no doubt, we arrived at CDG!
Then, I head to the baggage claim.
The bags arrived fairly quickly (understandable, given the wait onboard the plane).
Once retrieved, I hurried to catch one of the last RER trains to Paris.
This concludes my Flight review aboard an Amelia International Airbus A320 from Prague to Paris in Economy Class.
Regarding the flight, it was very standard. The cabin offered on this A320 had nothing special — thin, non-reclining seats. The only notable point was the presence of USB ports at each seat. As for the service, it was mixed. The beverage offerings were very good, but the light snack provided was mediocre. The crew was excellent — very kind, helpful, and cheerful, which is rare these days. In terms of entertainment, the flight was particularly dull. There was no onboard Wi-Fi, and entertainment was limited to downloadable magazines and newspapers before the flight.
Concerning Prague Airport, I have little to say other than the experience was excellent. Record waiting times for check-in and security, a wide range of restaurants, shops, and cafes to pass the time, impeccable cleanliness, and a beautiful and pleasant terminal.
As for Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, the experience would have been perfect if not for the jetway failure, which forced us to wait over twenty minutes on the plane. Otherwise, the experience was smooth, with a quick exit and demonstrable cleanliness.
I hope you enjoyed this Flight review. I look forward to seeing you again very soon for the next trip!
Thanks for reading and see you soon ;)
