Hello and welcome to this new Flight review.
Today I take you with me on a French domestic flight between Montpellier and Paris with Transavia. This trip is for the sole purpose of going to Paris for an interview, before taking off for Corsica the next day.
Our journey starts at Montpellier Airport early in the morning for a scheduled departure at 09:05 A.M.
The check-in area hasn't changed since my last visit. It still has the giant ads hanging from the ceiling.
I head to security, before taking the escalator to reach the duty-free.
Then we arrive in this modern and pleasant duty-free area but which is relatively small. We find there the sale of local products.
After the duty-free passage, we arrive on the airside. It is a very quiet space, with many seats and relaxation areas.
My flight is already announced at gate 20 and I have one hour to wait.
So I go closer to the windows to see if there are some planes to spot. Unfortunately, not much to see except the sunrise.
I finally go to my gate to see if there is anything better to see. There is nobody, I am the first to arrive.
Montpellier airport has a terrace, a very peaceful place with the brightness of the sunrise and the silence in the morning.
Finally, my airplane arrives from Paris-Orly.
After a long hour of waiting, it's time to board.
I let you enjoy the view of the aircraft while boarding.
And finally, the iconic fuselage shot!
The welcome on board is warm, then I join my seat in this beautiful green cabin. The legroom at the back is starting to feel a bit tight. Nevertheless, I find the seats quite comfortable.
Boarding is completed, and then the push-back is done!
We then taxi to runway 30R.
We line up, and take off!
Soon we will reach cruising altitude. In the galley, the crew is busy preparing the Buy On-Board service.
The views outside are nice. We can see the Alps on one side of the aircraft, the Auvergne on the other, and the Pyrenees behind!
As we head north, clouds begin to appear.
The service is done. I settle for a 3 euro bottle of water.
The descent begins. Pilots pull out the airbrakes to slow the machine down.
We get closer and closer to the clouds, before breaking through the layer.
We are lined up on the runway, the landing is imminent.
And… we smoothly land on time.
Welcome to Paris-Orly, with the mythical Concorde hiding.
We then taxi to the gate before disembarking.
After a passage in the flight deck, I am on the bridge.
As we are on a domestic flight there is no security procedure. I have no luggage to collect. That's why I'm very quickly out of the airport!
As usual, Montpellier Airport does not disappoint. Thanks to its warm atmosphere, faultless organization, and impeccable cleanliness, Montpellier Airport was recently voted "Best Airport in France"! And it is well deserved!
Transavia offered a good passenger experience. It could be described as a top-of-the-range low-cost airline without a doubt. The crew was excellent, always present to accompany or sympathize with the passengers. As seen before, the cabin is very pleasant, despite limited legroom in the back. The only negative point to note is the excessive prices charged on the "Buy OnBoard" service with a simple sandwich with Emmental cheese at 6 € although the prices are equivalent in other low-cost airlines.
The arrival at Orly went smoothly. No waiting, which allowed me to get out in barely 10 minutes. Direct access to the center of Paris is easy by rail or road.
